Smith Family Challenge 2018
Tom Roche, SNP Managing Director, joined forces with fellow team members Nick Roche, Stuart Sayers of Cochlear and Kevin Griffith of the MitchelLake Group recently to complete the 100km Smith Family Challenge. The challenge aims to raise money to provide educational support for disadvantaged Australian children.
The Smith Family is an educational support charity helping Australian children succeed at school. Today, 1 in 7* Australian children are growing up in disadvantaged circumstances, and the Challenge aims to raise much-needed funds to provide these children with essential school books, shoes, bags and uniforms.
Now in its 11th year, The Smith Family Challenge is an annual fundraising event. Started in 2008 by a former Smith Family Board Member, Paul Tobin, the event has raised nearly $4million* to date. It is a multi-sport, 100km adventure race over two days, where 16 teams of four raise money to support The Smith Family Learning for Life programs.
Competing in his ninth challenge this year, Tom Roche is a dedicated supporter of the annual event. Tom has attended more Challenges than any other participant. The 100km course is designed to be especially tough, giving participants a real sense of achievement.
This year, the event raised over $1,000,000 through donations from the 16 teams. 100% of funds raised will go directly to The Smith Family programs.
