Ronald McDonald House is a home away from home for families and their seriously ill children undergoing treatment at the Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick. For the second year in a row, a number of SNP employees recently volunteered their time to prepare dinner as part of their Make a Meal initiative.
The initiative involves cooking food for up to 80 residents of the House from a pre-planned menu of choice. Our volunteers prepared a Mexican fiesta, cooking tacos and cinnamon brownies for dessert. In addition, SNP donated $500 and provided colouring books, pencils and games for the children to enjoy. It is a unique opportunity to engage first hand with the children and their families, and a fun and rewarding way to volunteer a small amount of your time.
Treatment can last for days, months, or even years, and many of the families struggle to find the time to prepare meals during these critical periods. Helping them with this process not only alleviates their stress, but also enables them to relax in a comfortable environment away from the hospital setting.
Ronald McDonald House is dedicated to providing a caring home away from home for seriously ill children and their families. It is an organisation close to our hearts at SNP, and we strongly encourage everyone who can to get involved and show their support for this charity.
