SNP Security has been honoured to receive two prestigious award wins last night at the 20th Annual Australian Security Industry Awards for Excellence, organised by ASIAL.
The awards acknowledge the outstanding achievements of security professionals from across the country and this year, for the first time ever, ASIAL partnered with the global Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs) for the launch in Australia. As winners of an award, SNP will have the opportunity to represent Australia in the international OSPA awards.
In addition to winning the OPSA Outstanding Security Partnership award, SNP won the ASIAL ‘Gender Diversity’ award category.
SNP recognises that the security sector has historically been a non-traditional environment for women, and we are honoured to be recognised for our commitment to gender diversity in the security industry. In the past 12 months SNP has extended their Diversity Program, offering the Women in Leadership Program and introducing a leading initiative to redefine the future of women at SNP through the #ConnectedWomen strategy.
#ConnectedWomen was formed to embed gender diversity at every level of our organisation, creating an inclusive culture which empowers SNP female employees to have a voice that is heard. The initiative aims to lead a culture and mindset at SNP which exceeds expectations of diversity and equality within the security industry, advocating innovative, practical and measurable initiatives to drive change.
A key part of SNP’s strategy to attract, select and retain females in the workplace is its Women in Leadership program. Through this, SNP hosts regular networking events for employees with special guest speakers. The Women in Leadership program advocates gender equality and diversity, encouraging female employees to participate as Union delegates and join Occupational Health and Safety committees.
To date, SNP’s various diversity programs has generated a 61% increase of women within the SNP Security workforce since 2010. It is largely through these efforts that SNP has become the forward-thinking, gender diverse organisation it is today.
The OSPA Outstanding Security Partnership Award winning entry was based on SNP Security’s intensive working partnership with one of Australia’s most iconic airline’s, Qantas.
Qantas needed to resource a fresh team of 50 highly trained security staff for their freight business, at multiple sites across the country, in a very short timeframe – a challenge for any security provider. The SNP transition team had to be resourced during the Christmas/New Year period as it was crucial that the security team commenced at each of the Qantas sites early February/March 2015.
SNP Security established a relationship of trust with Qantas from the start. We offered to provide a highly trained, cost efficient workforce of Aviation Screening Officers in various locations. Over the three month period, thanks to excellent project management, and open communication in real partnership, we achieved a demanding amount of deliverables without a hitch. It is true partnership that makes any solution viable and we thank the incredible aviation team that made this almost impossible task possible at such a busy time of the year.
We would like to thank our dedicated employees for all of their hard work on the Qantas Freight project, and those who helped with the implementation of our recent gender diversity initiatives. At SNP it is our people and our culture that drives our business forward, and we would not be able to achieve these incredible milestones without the extraordinary efforts of our team.
