SNP Security is committed to providing quality customer experiences and we love sharing stories of how our frontline team has delivered unexpected levels of service. Check out our recent work at the Hunter Medical Research Institute.
The Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI) required multi-skilled security personnel capable of safeguarding its facility and research programs, protecting its staff and its reputation. SNP Security was brought on board as a trusted partner, performing complex facilities management duties on top of high-risk site security in what is a diverse and challenging role.
Safety is absolutely critical to HMRI’s research and to its reputation as a trust-worthy facility. The risks of operating procedures at HMRI include the cross-contamination of air-borne disease, handling dangerous gases like liquid nitrogen and other potentially harmful chemicals.
Jamie Ambler, Cleaning Grounds Manager at the HMRI, said: “The security team here has to know about more than security. Everyone has to know the site and its risks intimately. The team also needed to give visitors an excellent impression of the world-class institute that is HMRI and SNP has risen to the challenge.”
SNP recruited a very able person in the role of supervisor, which is a critical position. The supervisor had ten years experience and understood what it took to run a site. The role required an experienced worker – someone who could remain calm and level-headed at all times and have the flexibility to relate to any new issue.
Chris Vasquez, Account Manager from SNP, said: “SNP is an important organisation here in Newcastle and they have the capacity to respond to new requests quickly. We always seek to work collaboratively with our partners and recruit the right talent to the role.
“Once we put the supervisor in place, I was able to train and develop an excellent security team in partnership with them. The team now comprises four permanent staff and a series of casual staff, working well together, with the right combination of skills for the HMRI.”
The current team has been in place for two years and ensures all roles are performed to a high standard. SNP now provides both relief maintenance and lab maintenance, not just security services, looking after all areas of the site. By expanding its remit, SNP has remained a competitive security partner for the medical research industry.
“On top of providing top notch security, the new types and level of service provided by SNP give the Institute both confidence and flexibility. HMRI knows that its’ facilities will continue to be supported as its’ needs grow and change throughout ongoing research.” Jamie concluded.
