SNP Security, an operating company of Certis Security Australia, recently held the second meeting of the Aviation Security – Training Committee (AS-TC) at the Aviation Head office, Sydney. At SNP, we believe it’s important to develop our staff. We are committed to pushing our team to pursue innovative training methods to upskill and ensure we are prepared to counter emerging security threats. The AS-TC is designed to provide a professional forum for the discussion, development, dissemination and evaluation of Certis training materials, procedures and policies.
The committee featured a broad representation from 8 different airports nationally, as well as the national cargo network. It had involvement from key functions including Organisational Learning and Development, Quality, Human Resources and Recruitment. Committee members spent the day learning from each other and strengthening the network between teams.
The diversity of SNP Aviation screeners is constantly evolving, and the teaching and development opportunities must keep pace. Training tools need to remain both current and fit for purpose to ensure employees are engaged to support their professional development. In response to this, the committee explored new learning and development programs for trainers to implement and trial.
Committee members shared experiences on the implementation of Computer Tomography (CT) screening machines at a number of airport locations. The Australian Government has recognised the need to ensure security companies are prepared to overcome emerging threats in air travel. CT screening equipment is a tool that is being progressively implemented throughout Australian airports to prevent terrorism and illicit activity. As a result of both the depth and diversity of our
Aviation Security partners both in Australia and abroad, SNP is well positioned to assist clients in the implementation of new technology with experienced operators and trainers to ensure that routine terminal options are not impeded.
SNP Security looks forward to continuing our commitment to the development of our staff and the AS-TC in 2020.
